Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura is a son of Sri Mallappa and Smt Puttamma a farming family of Thimakapura, Periyapatna taluk of Mysore District.


Mysore’s very own ‘AGRI DOCTOR’. Mysore City’s own globally recognised agriculture Scientist, Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura fondly known as ‘PLANT DOCTOR’.


Travelled all over the world to study the way agriculture is practiced in those countries, and has used that knowledge to help Indian agriculture more particularly to his region.


Educational Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Plant Pathology
    Title of the thesis:“Studies on Some Seed-borne Fungal Diseases of Maize in Karnataka”
    Thesis Guide: Prof.H.S.Shetty, Professor and Head, Dept. of Applied Botany and Biotechnology, University of Mysore, Mysore.
    The Thesis which heralded a new trend & changed the whole concept of presentation, in the University.
